CLUB HISTORY
The Aces formed as the Adelaide Aces in 1993 after three local Adelaide players competed at the Australian Masters Games in Perth WA.
After playing against teams from South African and Guam as well Australian teams, we became very enthusiastic about starting a masters team to compete in the next Masters, the 1994 Alice Springs Games. A group was formed and a team selected. The resultant trip to Alice Springs was a huge success.
So much of a success was that first team that we soon had many new players wanting to join the Aces to experience the unique buzz of competing as a mature age player and mixing with the many people in Australia and in fact the World who share this enthusiasm.
Our group grew to three baseball teams, a ladies softball team, and 8-ball team and a golf team, as well as individual runners and swimmers competing at various masters games over next three years. The original sport of baseball grew to the extent that a separate Northern Adelaide Aces club was formed that now has over seventy members. The Aces have also formed the Aussie Aces group that competes in events in the USA.
The Aussie Aces are making their fourth trip to compete in the MSBL World Series in 2003 in Phoenix, Arizona. There will again be two Aussie Aces teams representing Australia competing in the 48+ and 58+ age groups. While the Adelaide Aces have trips to the Whyalla Regional Games, Mt Gambier, Broken Hill and Mildura Masters planned for 2003.
The Aces have also successfully hosted the Adelaide Aces Invitational, which this year is being held over the October long weekend, teams from Mount Gambier, Pt Lincoln, Broken Hill and other country centres are set to compete against the Adelaide, Aussie and Northern Aces.
The Adelaide Aces continue to grow and to promote masters baseball, this promotion as well as the support of junior baseballers that need assistance are two of the Aces charter objectives. The others are of course to compete as long and as often as we can and to have fun doing it. The promotion of baseball has seen the Aces visit Alice Springs, Broken Hill, Mount Gambier, Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Surfer’s Paradise, Mildura, Geelong and Phoenix. The Aces proudly sponsor an under twelve baseball team and has assisted several young baseballers travel in State or Australian teams. We have also assisted the Southern Districts Baseball Club with donations for Capital works.
Have glove will travel.
Welcome to the wonderful world of the Aces!!!
